When Marketing Feels Like Too Much

Hi Reader,

I wanted to write you something real today. Not another “strategy” email, not another list of tips, but something from the heart. So many conversations I've had lately revolve around overwhelm — and I'm guessing you’ve probably had moments lately where marketing feels like… too much.

Maybe it’s the pressure to come up with ideas. Or the frustration of spending hours creating a post that barely gets noticed. Or my personal worst, that sinking feeling when you're settled in, in your comfy clothes, checked out of work for the night, and you realize you completely forgot to post yet again. It feels like a secret failure that starts to pile on.

You’re not alone in that.

I’ve felt it too.

Countless times, I sat staring at my screen, thinking, “Why even bother?” Times I still second-guess an idea, a caption, a set of photos. And there were days I wanted to stop showing up entirely...and I did... because life was happening, and it felt like no one was really paying attention anyway.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned (and it took along time to get this):

Marketing isn’t about proving yourself, or even promoting your business. It’s about connecting. There are people who look forward to hearing from you, who already believe in what you have to offer. There are others who may be inspired by what you do, even if you reach just one person today.

Let’s Reframe This Together
Instead of focusing on all the things you should be doing, I want to challenge you to ask yourself this:

  • What’s one thing I can do today that feels light, not heavy? Maybe posting a simple snapshot to stories?
  • What’s one thing that reminds me why I started this business in the first place? Could it be a throwback post?

For me, that “one thing” is writing to you.

Remember how Facebook felt in 2010? That's the type of sincere connection I'd like for us to have with our audiences. I bet you would, too.

The noise and pressure of marketing has turned into a new humungous beast we feel like we have to tame. But I want this space—this letter, and all spaces I step into with you online or in real life—to feel like a quiet moment where you can reset, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.

Here’s What I Want You To Know:
You’re not behind.
You’re not failing.
And you’re certainly not alone.

Building a business takes courage. Showing up takes even more. And the fact that you’re here, reading this, tells me you’re doing the hard, brave work already.

A Simple Step for This Week:
Think about one small, intentional way you can show up for your audience. Maybe it’s sharing a behind-the-scenes moment. Maybe it’s sending a DM to thank someone who’s supported you. Maybe it’s just giving yourself permission to take a break in order to come back fresh after Thanksgiving.

Whatever it is, let it come from a place of connection—not obligation. The feed is filled with empty chatter already. Gone are the days where follower count, vanity metrics, and virality matters. Now, and in 2025, people are looking to connect in a way that makes them feel something. A simple laugh, to feel understood, or to have a quick win that only you can teach them.

And if no one’s told you lately: I see you working hard to keep all the plates spinning. Your work matters. And the right people see it, too.

I’m rooting for you, always,
Brenda

P.S. I’ve been working on something special for you—a free gift to help you grow your 5 star Google Reviews easily. It’s coming next weekend, but for now, please take a deep breath.

You’re exactly where you need to be. ❤️
